Want to help raise funds to combat angiosarcoma? We are working with Memorial Sloan-Kettering and Cycle For Survival to raise funds in order to fund angiosarcoma research in Dr. Cristina Antonescu’s lab at MSKCC. Please see below for information regarding locations times and how to get involved! Special thanks to Ryan Humphrey for putting this information together.
Meet Memphis, the first dog enrolled in a new clinical trial aimed at curing hemangiosarcoma ( angiosarcoma, only in dogs). Dr. Jaime Modiano at the Univerity of Minnesota is overseeing this trial, which uses an investigational new drug that has been designed to specifically kill malignant hemangiosarcoma cells. Positive results from this trial could pave the way for trials in humans. For more information regarding Dr. Modiano’s research, please visit: http://www.cancer.umn.edu/research/profiles/modiano.html
Because angiosarcoma is so rare, clinical trials designed specifically for this disease are typically not thought to be able to recruit enough patients. Angiosarcoma Awareness has been instrumental in allowing doctors to see that there is a population of angiosarcoma patients large enough to design trials. They have initiated the first NCI clinical trial for angiosarcoma. Please check out the link:
